Description

Thank you, Carlos (Madanapale), this photo is for you.

Thank you for your message, thank you for all your photos, thank you for giving me my enthusiasm for photography back.

I do not know how long it will last, how long I will stay here this time, but I hope it will be at least as long as my first visit on this site.

---

This photo is not new, actually it was taken back in september 2005 on a vacancy to Italy, but it is one of those I always wanted to publish.
The photo shows the city of Riomaggiore in a region called Cinque Terre.
I'm sure this photo has been taken a few thousand times as practically every tourist who enters the city has to pass the place this photo was taken at, but I have come to the conclusion that I may not be feared by that fact and that it compromises neither the quality of the photo nor the beauty of the moment it was taken.

It's my first submission for two and a half year now and I'm unsure of the thumbnails I chose, but they will do.

Some more photos of that vacany will follow - and some new photos as soon as the weather outside gets better ;)

Welcome back Lenz!
A great scene, good format and colors. It looks a tiny bit oversharpened and I'd recommend a more subtle border treatment (thin inner white line and smaller signature). I'd also like to see this shot in a different light with less direct sunlight to see what the difference in mood might be.
Overall a great image!

Beautiful city! :)

Great details and composition.

Looks as if you have quite a few tiny dirt spots on your lense. At a close up of the sky these are visible. You could easily fix this in post editing.

thanks for the input, both of you :)

@gary:
I reduced the size of the frame and size & alpha of the signature, very good point. As for the sharpness - it's mainly the resizing here, seems like I will have to blur in the future before resizing... new alogithm in GIMP.

@moserArtist:
yeah, those must be water drips, we had to use a ferry to get there. they didn't disturb me much so I let them there ;)
unfortunately this was the only time I was there, so I have no photos with different lighting

Nice colourful scene. IMO there's a little too much to take in with the plant & boats & buildings and the sky.

Nice view, colourful and pretty sharp.
I tend to agree with Don that the composition is a bit busy. Yet, I am not sure how it could be improved as the plant cannot be cropped out easily.
The sky appears too dark for a 'sunny day mood'.

Hi Lenz! It's so nice to have you back! I enjoy this image. It's full of color and detail and also offers a pleasing composition. The plant in the foreground adds a nice element but with the busyness of the image, it probably goes overboard a bit. I'm not sure however, that the image would work so well without it. Hmmmm.

Anyway ... a great image.

I hope you stay around for a while.

Very nice images.

It's a lot to digest in color, compositionally. I think a Black and White version would make it easier on the eyes.

Beautiful place. I think the colors don't work here. I would go b&w or wait until a better time like sunset.

nice place...but the image shows up some artifacts specially on the buildings probably due to resizing...next time try to use anoyher resizing method in PS... ;)
