You won't believe how many trees had to die for this photo.

Yay! You did it! You did good Lenz! I feel bad for those trees that died though. I think you should plant one for each that you chopped down. I'm not sure about the composition of this ... cropping etc. but You did what you set out to do very well.

You remind me of Gallager (I don't know if I spelled his name right). He's a comedian that smashes things on stage with a large mallet. He's famous for smashing watermellons and getting the audience all sticky wet.

Anyway, this is a nice shot. He must've hit it pretty hard to turn the blade that way. Nice touch with the snow. Good to see new things from you.

Top marks from me Lenz...10/10.....the snow looks so real....The composition is very well balanced....excellent capture....is that You ?....Looks also like a semiabstract picture.....my only observation....if you intended this to look also as a semiabstract....we shouln´t see the wrists....Excellent work...Glad and happy to see another picture from you....

Ahaha! I was close when I said chainsaw! Good action photo. Did you cho and set a timer? or did someone else chop while you shot? My only crit is that its very obvious flash was used cause of the snow, but I dont know how you would have captured some elements in this photo without it. Great capture as Carlos said, nice balance. 8/9

well this one shows more destruction and chaos..as it wasn't a clean chop you captured the duality of splitting wood... sometimes it's all about muscling through and machismo....

but the flipside is it can be a very meditative task..as one cleanly splits a piece with minimal effort and pure technique....whenever chopping wood I always ponder about how much time our ancestors must have spent doing this activity...

well done.. getting both sides of the coin

Brilliant shot. I love the spray of snow and splinters. I would have liked to see the axe head more sharply but I am being picky now.

Keep up the good work

My only crit would be the wrists showing at the time, with such darkness surrounding them they really stand out, and for me, distract from the rest of the beautiful chaos that you have captured.

Spectacular!! I think elements blurring at different rates gives the photo more kinetic energy. I would have gone the other way and shown bare hands with distended veins and flexed muscles for even more of a gritty look, but I bet after several takes they would have turned blue!! It stands nicely how it is, however!
Max Points!

I really like the chaos in this one--the asymmetrical fountains of snow are superbly captured. Even though this is not my absolute favorite of the series, it's still getting my max points.

Both the idea behind this series and the execution of it are fantastic. Nice work.

The idea is great Lenz! Nice contrast between the warm colors of the wood and the snow! It's not an easy shot to do! But you did it very well! :)
